Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get started?
Please click the “Book a consultation” button at the top of this page to book a free 30 minute consultation.
What happens in the first session?
In our first session, we’ll take some time to get to know each other. You can share what’s bringing you to counselling, what you hope for from the process, and any questions you have. It’s also a chance for you to get a feel for my approach and see if it feels like a good fit for you.
How many sessions will I need?
It varies for each person. Some people come for a set number of sessions, while others prefer open-ended therapy. We’ll discuss what feels right for you, and review this together as we go along.
How often should I come to counselling?
Establishing regular sessions is important to facilitate, and give momentum to the therapeutic process. Most people find that weekly contact provides a sense of security and continuity whilst they are working on their emotional difficulties. All sessions are confidential and records are kept securely.
Do you offer online counselling?
Yes. I work both in person and online via secure video calls, so you can choose what works best for your circumstances.
What if I’ve never had counselling before?
That’s absolutely fine, many people I work with are new to therapy. You don’t need to know exactly what to say or where to start. I’ll guide you gently, and we’ll go at a pace that feels comfortable.
Do you work with specific concerns?
Yes, I work with a range of emotional and life challenges, including anxiety, low mood, stress, grief, abuse, relationship difficulties, and workplace pressures. I also offer neurodiversity-affirming therapy and welcome clients with experiences of Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, and Dyspraxia.
What if I’m unsure whether counselling is right for me?
You’re welcome to book a free initial conversation. This gives you the chance to ask questions, see how it feels to talk to me, and decide whether you’d like to continue.
